Are collars with a metal buckle suitable for small breeds and puppies?
For very small breeds and tiny puppies, we generally do not recommend metal fastenings. The metal buckle is heavier than the plastic one, which could weigh down the small dog's neck. For them, our collars with a lightweight plastic buckle are ideal.
Can the metal buckle withstand a stronger pull from a dog?
Yes, the metal buckles on our collars provide high strength. They reliably hold even energetic and large breeds during regular walks and any corrections during training.
How do I care for a collar with a metal fastening?
The Hexa webbing simply needs to be rinsed with water. We recommend also rinsing the metal buckle after a mud bath or a walk in the rain and wiping it dry so it maintains its appearance long-term and the fastening works smoothly. For a longer lifespan, we recommend occasionally spraying the metal buckle with oil – it protects the springs inside, which could rust.
Does the metal buckle get cold in winter?
Metal naturally takes on the ambient temperature, so in severe frosts, it can be cold to the touch. For regular winter walks in our conditions, this doesn't bother the dog at all.
Can I get a custom-made collar with a metal buckle?
Yes. All our collars are sewn by hand in the Ritega workshop. If your dog has a non-standard neck circumference, simply write this request in the order notes and we will make a collar with a metal buckle exactly to measure.
