The strap is also naturally stiffer than classic nylon, which significantly reduces unwanted twisting and crossing.

Yes. The key is the center ring and the properties of the Hexa material. The ring allows the dogs to switch sides without the leashes crossing "permanently." Furthermore, the Hexa strap has a stiffer structure than common fabric or rope. We always recommend a fixed coupler for two dogs. Retractable leashes for two dogs often lead to chaos – dogs pull in different directions, thin cords can easily get tangled or cut into each other, blocking the mechanism and causing you to lose control. In contrast, a fixed Hexa coupler keeps the dogs safely together, provides 100% control in critical situations (e.g., near a road), and is much safer for both you and the dogs.

What coupler width should I choose for small vs. large breeds?

The correct width is important due to the weight of the hardware. For small breeds (e.g., Chihuahua, Yorkshire, Dachshund), choose a 16 mm width, which has lighter snap hooks and won't weigh the dogs down. For medium and larger breeds, go for the wider 20 mm variant, which is fitted with more massive hardware and can withstand heavy pulling.

Can you make each arm of the coupler a different length?

Of course! Since we hand-craft all couplers in our workshop, custom adjustments are no problem for us. If, for example, you have one dog significantly smaller than the other, or one walks disciplined by your side while the other likes to sniff further ahead, just write your request in the order notes and we will tailor the arm lengths for you.
